Hello from Deirdra Pickering
Educationalist John Dewey said ‘Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself’. That sentiment sums up Labhair Linn.
I set up Labhair Linn in 2020. I’m mum to a ten year old boy in fifth class. He knows words and spellings in Irish but is hard pressed to put words together in a full sentence. I decided to run courses to test the market, the courses were very well taken up and as the saying goes, the rest is history! The September term starts week commencing 13th - details to follow, life is still a little uncertain due to Covid.
To explain why Labhair Linn is successful, I’d like to share this teacher endorsement:
‘Hi All, My name is Gemma and I work for Labhair Linn. I provide Irish language lessons for primary school children. The main thing that I enjoy about working for Labhair Linn is that as we get to know the children, we can plan lessons that can cater for their different learning needs.
The groups comprise just four students in each group, this really helps me to get to know the children, their interests, their strengths and things that can be worked on. As the lessons are weekly, it is absolutely fantastic to see the children gaining confidence in their oral language skills and listening skills. Most students return each term, as we try to make the lessons as fun and engaging as we possibly can!
There are many things that I enjoy about working for Labhair Linn and I genuinely couldn’t recommend people enough to join our team as a tutor or to sign their children up for our lessons!’ Múinteoir Gemma
I hope you feel inspired to take a course with Labhair Linn and I look forward to answering any questions you have.
Kind regards from Deirdra Pickering
